The PFE "BUILD URBANITY IN AN AREA EXPOSED TO NATURAL RISKS"

100 graduates

51 projects

This PFE program (master’s 2 semester 9 and 10) was initiated at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris-La-Villette in 2012 by Éric Daniel-Lacombe, its manager. The architectural experiences presented in this atlas are the result of the educational sharing between Éric Daniel-Lacombe and Xavier Bonnaud. It follows, for students who so wish, a first semester of MASTER 2 (semester 9, supervised by Éric Daniel-Lacombe with Yannick Gourvil), allowing a first approach to natural hazards and their impacts on the environment. inhabited.

Echoing the projects carried out within his agency EDL architecture, Éric Daniel-Lacombe, ten years ago (2010), noted that the complexity and urgency of such subjects were not addressed. in architecture schools. Given the growing scale of climatic and environmental disturbances, it seemed essential to him that future architects should be able to take up such issues during their training and proposed a pedagogy articulated between semester 9 and the PFE.

Backed by the work carried out within the Inhabited Milieu Seminar and GERPHAU, which he directs, Xavier Bonnaud joined this program bearing the idea that these high-risk areas are new meeting places between cities and nature. It promotes a double culture of research and invention so that transformative visions and democratic evaluations are deployed from the architecture.

These end of studies projects propose transformations based mainly on the prevention and promotion of natural regulations; they also aim to establish new links between architecture, landscape, urbanity and risk, revealing the double imaginary of open shelters built between defensive retreat and openness to the richness of living environments.
