"The risk of runoff as a strategy for planting along the slope in the Ourika valley water as a resource and a threat in a semi-arid climate".
The region’s semi-arid climate and the river’s hydraulic conditions vary considerably: sometimes the main river bed is dry, sometimes it floods. What’s more, as a result of climate change, heavy rainfalls occur occasionally during the summer. These torrential rains associated with landslides are particularly devastating, wreaking havoc on agriculture along the wadi, tourist facilities and informal settlements. Living in these landscapes implies water management issues. How do you deal with water when it’s precious and needs to be collected, and when it’s plentiful and needs to be protected?
