"Transforming flood-prone ground floors: for a new urbanity in Prés-Saint-Jean"
Alès, on the banks of the Gardon, is subject to intense and rapid flooding, known as “Cévennes episodes”. Les Prés-Saint-Jean is an ANRU district particularly subject to flooding because it is located at the hydraulic junction between two rivers. The project consists of revealing the Île des Prés-Saint-Jean by bringing out a temporary tributary. The project adapts to different levels of risk by designing two shore architectures to inhabit the thalweg between interior and exterior.
