"Building in interaction with the water cycle: An architecture serving the resilience of Rio Pinheiros and the urbanity of Sao Paulo"
The city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, is bordered by two rivers: the Rio Pinheiros and the Rio Tiété. These last two bypass the urban center of the city, one from the south and the other from the north, both from east to west, thus forming a real fluvial ring road. The two rivers meet in the neighborhood of Vila Leopoldina. The Rio Tiété, where you could still fish in the 1950s, is today one of the most polluted rivers in South America. The objective of this project is twofold: to control the runoff which comes from a polluted site towards the river but also to give back to the inhabitants, human and non-human, the enjoyment of these spaces.
