"Making breathable air"

Kuala Lumpur is a city subject to intense pollution episodes. The presence of rich and varied vegetation, including depolluting plants, seemed to be an asset in improving air and soil quality. The project calls for plant-based construction (bamboo), carbon-absorbing spaces for oxygenation and air purification, local thermal regulators, and treatment of rainwater run-off, infiltration and purification. These are vscreate a healthy living environment where health problems due to pollution are reduced; spaces where the building and the vegetation are in symbiosis and participate in the birth of a built environment where “it is good to live”; rehabilitate the Kampung Bharu district with its market to once again attract the entire population of Kuala Lumpur; and finally to affirm the dialogue and interdependence of architecture and nature in an urban environment to promote the well-being of city dwellers.
