"A neighborhood on and in the" Itaya "river, the most polluted in the Peruvian Amazon"
The Itaya River, which flows through the city of Iquitos, is an integral part of daily life. Floods are very impressive and can completely submerge the ground in a very short space of time. Although the buildings have adapted to the area by developing around a system of pilings, the problem of sanitation remains a cause for concern. During floods, garbage and other objects on the ground are carried along by the river, rubbing shoulders with the living. What are the alternatives to waste management? How can urban agriculture raise awareness of river pollution?
