"From water management to urban regeneration"
Vidigal lies between a steep slope and the sea. This specific layout poses a problem during heavy rainfall events. Water runoff from the mountains converges rainfall from uninhabited to inhabited areas, saturating soils and causing flooding. The project is based on the assumption that there are two high-potential areas for rainwater management, and sees them as an opportunity to consolidate a self-managed urbanity: how can we treat a high fringe (on the mountainside) and a low fringe (saturated sewers) by augmenting them with a special sewage system?
